Happy Birthday to me... happy birthday to me... happy birthday to me... happy birthday to me.

Can't say this is a total loss. I mean, later on I'm going to a ceramics place where you can paint pottery. And Tim sent along a card: "It's her.. the birthday girl... do we proceed? ...yes... after all... it's her BIRTHDAY!"

I finally managed to get to the Stampede yesterday. Since it was the last day, it was relatively uncrowded and I snagged a good seat for the Eukanuba Superdog show. The last two years I ended up standing in the back. The dogs were great, per usual and afterwards we headed to the agriculture barn. I was particularly interested in the llamas. Llamas are strange creatures, and no doubt about it. They have the feet of a goat, an elongated version of a sheep's body, an extremely long neck, and the face of a camel. I cautiously petted a friendly looking one, hoping they didn't spit like camels.

The llama blinked at me shrewdly, looking as though he/she knew something I didn't and it amused him/her greatly. I petted it some more and it let out a very soft high pitched sigh, "hmmm." It sounded like the llama was thinking, but I wasn't sure if it was the llama making the noise, since it hadn't moved a bit. I imitated the, "hmmm" and the llama moved a bit then replied, "hmmm". Needless to say, this was very enduring. Can you ride llamas?

Anyways, after my little conversation with the llama, my mom suggested we take in the Xtreme Freestyle MotorCross (can't you just picture all the exclamation!marks! behind that?). It was pretty amazing, the stunts the riders did. They revved up their bikes up a ramp, soared over a 20 meter distance while doing several positions, and landed on a second ramp. Particular favourite of mine was the handstand and the 'bucking bronco'.

I realize how naive I sound. Bear with me.

For lunch, I had two hot dogs and a slushie and watched the sweepers argue over which piece of garbage was theirs. I found this particularly amusing.

I don't know why, but I found a lot of things intimidating. Maybe because everything's bigger, including food portions, people, stadiums. It is rather unnerving when you transition from being one of the taller people in Hong Kong to being one of the shorter people in Canada.

I guess I will get used to it, as long as I don't buy any clothes here.
