Well, it's official. As of this morning (my time), Bush won the presidency.

I really have no idea what to think of this. I can see why Americans would vote for Bush (issues of national security aside, most say they'd rather stomach seeing Bush's face on TV than Kerry's). I can safely assume that any foreign policies Bush continues to alter/introduce will not directly affect Hong Kong, so I don't feel inclined to make a preference to either candidate. Being a non-American (Canadian, which makes this even more stereotypical), I don't like Bush's administration. I don't mind the guy; he's probably very nice and a good family man and all. It's Cheney I've got issues with.

If the voting ended 269/269, then technically they could put John Edwards as vice-president in place of Cheney. This was what I'd been hoping for, because by last night it was pretty obvious that Kerry wasn't going to win.

I went to honour band last night, I was naive enough to hope to get away from the politics. There wasn't a chance, since HKIS is an American school and most of the students are American citizens. ("Who'd your parents vote for?" "Bush! Duh." was shop talk amongst HKIS students.)

Anyways, I'm off to bask in the newness of my new laptop! :D
